Matthias, a Belgian designer, envisioned a sustainable home that seamlessly blends with nature, just a short walk from the ocean. His goal was to create a retreat where indoor and outdoor living merge, providing a serene space for relaxation.
In collaboration with Tarra Architects and a local team, the design ensures the house integrates with its surroundings. Natural materials like locally sourced wood, stone, and recycled elements create a timeless, authentic feel. A key choice was to forgo a paved road to ‘Busua Bliss,’ preserving the area’s untouched atmosphere and making the journey to the home part of the experience.
The open layout connects indoor and outdoor spaces, with large windows offering panoramic views of the jungle and ocean. Design elements, like a prominent rock in the kitchen, blend function and aesthetics. The house engages the senses with the cool breeze, the sounds of nature, and fresh fruits, making the landscape an integral part of daily life.
Guided by minimalism, the design avoids excess: a small refrigerator, no air conditioning, and a single bathroom. With no fences or noise, the home exudes peace and harmony, offering a private oasis for personal reconnection.
